At the start of the 2019-2020 school year both Muirlands Middle and La Jolla High Schools moved to a Healthy Start time of 8:35am with an end time of 3:15 pm. We believe that this will have a substantial positive impact on all aspects of our students' lives.

New California education law mandates later school start times. Under SB 328 from state Sen. Anthony J. Portantino, D-La Cañada Flintridge, school days will begin no earlier than 8 a.m. at public middle schools and 8:30 a.m. at high schools, excluding some rural schools and a “zero period” offered before the start of the regular school day. The law is set to go into effect July 1, 2022.
